Children like to run and play in the sun, parents learn how to prevent dehydration in children

Children, if they have the same friends or siblings, come together on special occasions like this New Year's Day, they will surely be happy, play, forget food, forget water. In general, the traditional Khmer New Year is a dry month, which means that the sun is shining and the weather is very hot, and if children run and play under the hot sky, they may face dehydration on their parents. What can be done to prevent dehydration in children?

For older children (over 10 kg) with dehydration, parents should give at least 1 glass of water / hour for 4 consecutive hours or give more children in case of vomiting or diarrhea. On the other hand, parents should regularly monitor and give water to children, because young children like to drink little water at a time, so should give water to children often.

In addition to replenishing water by providing water, mom can provide fruit juices or drinks such as:

• Fresh fruit juice

• Oranges

• Watermelon

• Cucumber or sweet cucumber

• Papaya fruit, etc.

On the other hand, if your child is dehydrated, do not give him or her sugary drinks that are high in sugar and gas.

In addition, we also need to be aware of the signs of severe dehydration that can occur on the abdomen to prevent accidents such as extreme thirst, drowsiness, cold limbs or eyes, shortness of breath, rapid heartbeat or heart rate. In case Aon shows such signs, the child should be taken to the doctor as soon as possible.
